What the man who brought us The Anderson is doing during Basel

We asked a few movers and shakers on the Miami arts and culture scene to tell us what they’re most excited about as Art Week and Art Basel descend on the Magic City. Here, Jourdan Binder – one of the creative geniuses behind local fave The Anderson Bar – shares his faves.

I’m the founder of The Workshop Collective, a creative agency in Wynwood focusing in graphic design, public relations, social media, events and marketing. I am also the creative director at The Anderson, an 80s-inspired bar in which I am a partner with Gabe Orta and Elad Zvi of Bar Lab.

I typically seek out modern art, mixed media, and photography, although really, I’m a fan of all art. I’m pretty excited about a few things at this year’s Basel.

The Untitled Art Fair is always a show I love; PULSE this year is exhibiting Keyser Siso and Ryota Unno, two artists I have pieces from so I am excited to see more. I’m also looking forward to seeing my friend Spencer Ludwig of  perform at a couple different places throughout the week.

I will for sure be hitting up Basement Miami for its two-year anniversary hosted by the Haas Brothers, and heading to Nobu Eden Roc for the UNICO 20°87° Hotel Riviera Maya pop-up. We also have a great lineup at The Anderson starting on Wednesday…Mayer Hawthorne, Boyfriend and her rap cabaret, Wild Belle, The Skins…it’s going to be ridiculous.

We are working with Super 8 in a pop-up gallery in Wynwood where they are giving away free art resulting from the renovations of their hotels throughout the country. This event is so different from everything happening around town, there will be FREE art during Art Basel!

The visual groundbreaking of CUBE WYNWD is also an out of the box (no pun intended) event we are working on (find it at 222 NW 24th St. in  Wynwood). PRIMARY and Chicago-based artist Cody Hudson are collaborating on an installation, “Future No.1 (Fill the Void)”
