We asked the brave Miamians taking on their wellness goals to let us know how their progress is going since they started to meet with the fitness and wellness experts we connected them with across the 305.

This week we asked: Does reaching your wellness goal feel impossible to you? Why or why not? What’s the first step you’re taking to try and reach it?

Wellness goal: To improve overall wellness, learn to swim, and get more comfortable in the water.
Expert: Erinne Guthrie, Full Circle Coaching
“I know that I can do it and I realize it’s not going to be easy or comfortable. But once I have this in my mind, it’s all about how much I want it.”
Wellness goal: To lose weight, improve his overall wellness, and run a half marathon.

“I am unsure of where to even start so I’m looking forward to getting acquainted with my coach.”
Wellness goal: To commit to a vegan lifestyle and become a vegan bodybuilder.
Expert: Korin Sutton, Body HD Fitness
“Thanks to the New Tropic’s help I have been able to connect with someone who shares my same goals, and is actually trained to help me meet those goals. Today, I have just met with a vegan lifestyle coach and am looking forward to his help in developing a meal and fitness plan.”
Wellness goal: To become more flexible so she can practice things like yoga and pilates.

“The first step I’m taking is really just making sure I’m getting some kind of stretching in everyday. No excuses. It’s half about committing to a few minutes of mindfulness thought and half about opening up my joints that get so tight from sitting during office hours.”
Wellness goal: To move more and exercise, and to eat better.

“It doesn’t feel impossible, but I have felt a bit lost and helpless trying to do it on my own. I have struggled with my weight most of my life, so I know this isn’t something that I can tackle without a support network. It’s especially helpful to have someone to hold me accountable. The first step for me is putting my pride aside and asking for the help in the first place. That was not easy for someone like me, who likes to believe she can balance it all.”
Wellness goal: To improve posture and overall mental and physical wellness.
Expert: Adrian Simo, Simo Massage Therapy
“The first step I’m taking is trying to remember to stretch multiple times a day. No, it doesn’t feel impossible because I know essentially what I need to do, I just need the reminders and mindfulness to actually do it.”
