Where to drink in Downtown Miami

This spot has turned into a new go-to for watching just about every sport and they’re not shy about supporting the home teams. They’ve got screens just about everywhere you look and they pump in the audio for the big games. The bar also has plenty of drink specials, food, and VIP tables if that’s your speed. Pro tip: If you really want a good spot for a big game, you’ll want to get there a little early – and maybe get a bucket of beers before the bar gets a little too busy.

Ever imagined what a clothing-store-turned-bar would look like? Wonder no more, because Lost Boy Dry Goods has made it happen in Downtown. The store opened a few years back specializing in high-end denim and apparel for men and women, but converted into a bar just in time for the spread of World Cup fever here in Miami. Stop by for a drink and check out the stylish decor and chill vibe while catching sports action on the multiple TVs around the bar.

The newest bar on the block is Mama Tried, a collaboration by a group of nightlife veterans, Bookleggers’ own Nathaniel Sandler (also an occasional New Tropic contributor), filmmakers and – according to their website – water polo coaches. The bar itself is a pretty cozy spot and the drinks are mixed by folks from spots like Purdy Lounge and Blackbird Ordinary. The bar, which only opened in June, already started a disco night, and a trivia/karaoke night, so there’ll be plenty to check out when you drop by.

We couldn’t leave out E11EVEN from this list, even though we kinda wanted to. It’s a Miami kind of bad idea. Open all day and all night, this dance club meets strip bar is a popular spot for bachelor parties, people who like to make it rain, and late night shenanigans after all the reasonable clubs have closed. E11EVEN shares a street with late-night bars Libertine and The Corner, allowing for plenty of bar hopping.

The day after you’re done partying it up around Downtown, Eternity Roasters is the place to be for that much needed caffeine boost. Staffed by coffee lovers, Eternity serves up exquisite single origin coffees, roasting the beans in small batches to celebrate each bean’s unique flavor. These roasters are focused on transparency, and you can watch them roast the beans from their Downtown café and tasting room. They love answering any caffeinated questions you might have brewing.

When Club Space got new ownership, the walled-off bar space inside it formerly known as Libertine became Floyd Miami, a cozy spot with a speakeasy vibe and the same iconic chandeliers. Jazz bands play the lounge every Thursday night, filling up the dim old-timey room with tunes that match the cozy feel.

Serving up deliciously crafted cocktails into the wee hours of the morning, The Corner is the ultimate local hipster bar. To truly celebrate this glorious city, and get a nice good buzz while you’re at it, order the Hurricane, a drink complete with two different types of rum, four types of fruit, a herbal liqueur, and of course some bitters. Feeling a bit more fancy? Go for the The Aristocrat, a classic made up of gin, cucumber, lemon, and sage. An insider’s tip — they’ve got a great happy hour during the week from 4 p.m.-8 p.m., and serve up some mean Chicago dogs for just $3.  On Tuesday nights you can catch great jazz bands as well.
