ArTech STEAM Workshops at Treasure Island Elementary School in North Bay Village

An international leader in surveillance camera systems and other sophisticated technology, P&O Global Technologies, Inc. will serve as the presenting sponsor for the ArTech’s Nov. 4, 2017 STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) workshops at Treasure Island Elementary School in North Bay Village. ArTech is a half-day of STEAM activities for children in grades 1 through 6.

During the free event, which will take place from 9 a.m.–2 p.m., P&O Global Technologies representatives will showcase the company’s facial recognition software, which it recently launched in the U.S. market. The software detects people’s faces in live video streams or video footage, and stores video sequences of cropped faces (face streams) for each appearance in front of a camera. P&O Global Technologies is currently developing a waterfront condominium development, 7918 West Drive, in North Bay Village, which will incorporate the facial recognition software.

Also at the event, the students will build robots, create 3D-printed fidget spinners and learn how they work, launch rockets, learn the basics of coding, enjoy sports activities and create art projects. The students will learn real-life applications for what they learn.

“At P&O Global Technologies, we are strong proponents of STEAM programs for all students across the nation,” said Maurizio Pejoves, director, P&O Global. “Technology is an extremely important subject for today’s students to learn and embrace. We are happy to sponsor this event at Treasure Island Elementary School, which is located in the same neighborhood as our new technology-focused condominium development, 7918 West Drive.”

The program is the recipient of a Knight Foundation grant and will consist of hands-on workshops given by P&O Global Technologies, Dibia Dream, The Creators Lab, 3DStuffMaker, the Genius Factory, Cody the Robot of Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
