Edouard Duval-Carrié: Metamorphosis: Artist’s Reception
The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), North Miami will open its fall season with the presentation of Edouard Duval-Carrié: Metamorphosis. Metamorphosis features 37 new paintings and sculptures by the artist, who is Haitian-born but calls Miami home. Curated by Anthony Bogues, Ph.D. and Professor of Africana Studies at Brown University, the exhibition will be on display from September 7 through November 5, 2017.
Centering on the symbolic and cultural histories of Haiti and the Caribbean, Duval-Carrié’s artistic themes are many variations on the historic life of the region, blending his distinct aesthetic with the everyday. The artist’s reception will be open from 7-9 p.m. and will provide an opportunity for visitors to meet and greet Duval-Carrié and be immersed into works that have not been shown before.
