Jazz at MOCA: Lisanne Lyons
The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), North Miami presents Lisanne Lyons as part of its monthly “Jazz at MOCA” series. Lyons’ career began immediately following high school as the featured vocalist for three Air Force bands. She currently teaches Studio Music and Jazz at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. To date, Lyons has been awarded several DownBeat awards for jazz vocal soloist, jazz vocal choir director and jazz arranger along with being named the Gamma Mu Chapter of Delta Omicron “Music Professor of the Year.”
Lyons was the featured performer with Joel Grey during the NBC Orange Bowl half-time show in 1991. She also has headlined at the Ottawa, Detroit and Clearwater Jazz Festivals and La Nuit du Jazz in France. With numerous performing, recording and back-up gigs, Lyons has performed with Woody Herman Orchestra, Maynard Ferguson and Arturo Sandoval to name a few.
