Miami Day of Civic Hacking
Join Code for Miami to help #HackForChange!
Miami Day of Civic ‘Hacking’ is a part of the annual international event, National Day of Civic Hacking, where thousands of people tackle challenges using datasets central to their environment, government, public services, and other civic-oriented topics.
Here in Miami we are focusing on how our city can stay resilient beyond the face of natural disasters like Irma. Code for Miami will put together an engaging program that will allow participants to work on projects that will examine and help Miami and its most vulnerable populations be more prepared and connected.
The event will bring together urbanists, civic hackers, government staff, developers, designers, community organizers and anyone with the passion to make our city better.
We will collaboratively build new solutions using publicly-released data from FEMA and other sources, new technologies, and design processes to improve our communities and the governments that serve them.
Expect to take part in breakout sessions on how to turn data into beautiful visualizations, hack existing tech, and storytelling your way to smart solutions.
