The Miami metro is an aspiring hub for entrepreneurship and innovation. While Miami has long been a breeding ground for small businesses, it has historically trailed behind that of leading tech hubs like the San Francisco Bay Area, Austin, Seattle, and Boston-Cambridge. But the tide appears to be turning in Miami’s favor. The arrival of high-tech startups and companies is transforming the fabric of Miami, creating numerous opportunities for real estate and economic development. And, while these initiatives have the ability to drive prosperity and economic growth, they also have the potential to compound our urban divides.
On Tuesday, April 24th, 2018 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm, join Richard Florida, visiting fellow at the FIU Miami Urban Future Initiative, as he engages in conversation with Gabriel Metcalf, president and CEO of SPUR, about how Miami can leverage its growing startup community to drive inclusive growth and avoid deepening inequality and urban divides plaguing other super star cities like San Francisco.
