Shostakovich Symphony No. 10 – Miami Music Festival Orchestra

Shostakovich began his Symphony No. 10 only a few months after Joseph Stalin’s death. It has been rumored to be a musical portrait of the Communist dictator and to include many covert anti-Stalin protests, thus creating an intense score with brooding moments that eventually crash into a slower, calmer finale. The MMF Orchestra, conducted by David Effron, will bring the intensity of Shostakovich’s narrative to life in this special performance.

Miami Music Festival presents their 2018 season from June 5th to July 29th, which will host 250 students from over 25 countries selected from the most prestigious conservatories and universities. The Festival consists of institutes in orchestra, opera, piano, and conducting, as well as the pioneering Career Institute.
