Open to all ages and levels of experience, The Wolfsonian’s first Sketching in the Galleriessession takes place in the gallery with the exhibition Rendering War: The Murals of A. G. Santagata. The program is led by Carlos E. Prado, a museum artisan at The Wolfsonian, a widely exhibited visual artist, and a professor who headed the sculpture program at the Visual Arts School, ISA-University of the Arts of Cuba during 2006–12. Sketching in the Galleries came about as part of a mini-grant program in which Wolfsonian staff members were encouraged to propose ideas for new initiatives; this was one of the winning proposals. Future Sketching in the Galleries sessions will alternate between the exhibitions Rendering War and Art and Design in the Modern Age.
