Sheir and Nafeeza Ali have owned and operated Little Haiti’s B&M Market and Roti Shop for over 25 years. Nafeeza’s the chef while Sheir runs the register, and the grill.
They serve Caribbean cuisine, and Nafeeza makes everything from scratch on a daily basis.
While you wait for your homemade curry, soup or roti, you can browse through the market for West Indian vegetables, spices and medicinal teas, and if you’re lucky, get to pet their resident cat, Peek-a-boo.
FUN FACT: The late, great Anthony Bourdain stopped by for her cow-foot stew.
QUOTABLE: “Nobody really taught us how to cook. I just looked at my Mom and just use my common sense and do it.” —Nafeeza
