Pinecrest’s history begins in the early 1900s, when Henry Flagler used it as a staging area for construction of the Overseas Railroad to the Keys. By the mid-1930s, Pinecrest became a travel destination as the first home for Parrot Jungle, which is now home to the south Florida favorite Pinecrest Gardens.
