Meet Miami legend Serge Toussaint

Serge Toussaint is a Haitian-born artist and muralist who’s been painting storefronts and walls around the 305 since 1994. If you don’t already know him by name ($erge), you’ve definitely seen his work if you’ve ever driven through Little Haiti, Overtown, or Wynwood.

It started with an illustration of a sandwich outside a “boutik” and peaked with his mural of the Miami Heat Championship team in Wynwood. Most recently, Serge is working on a mural at Little Haiti Soccer Park to honor the three teenagers from Little Haiti who were killed by a drunk driver in June.

FUN FACT: Serge first came to Miami on vacation. After 25 years, he’s still here.

QUOTABLE: “Wherever I’m at, I’m an artist. As long as there’s colors, I can make a living.” — Serge

SUPPORT SERGE: If weather permits, Serge plans to complete his mural honoring the  teenagers at Little Haiti Soccer Park in time for their wake this Friday, June 21.
