Meet our member: Amanda Crider

Today we’re continuing our series on the people who make what we do possible — our supporting members. ❤️ Today we’re featuring The Roads resident Amanda Crider!

Where in town might people run into you? At any concert, performance, ballet, or other great event happening in the city.

What made you decide to become a member of The New Tropic? I love reading The New Tropic every morning, and wanted to support an awesome organization. Keeps me on top of local and national news, and great things happening in the community. Love it!

What’s something you’re working on that you could use help with? I’m working on building my non-profit, IlluminArts. We tell stories through art and music and just celebrated our fifth-anniversary season last year. Excited to be able to bring great culture to our city, and make it as accessible as possible to anyone who wants to come and see our shows.www.illuminarts.org

What’s a local event you went to recently that you loved? The Moth StorySLAM at the Olympia Theater is such a good time. Hilarious host, great stories, and a really fun way to spend an evening.

What’s a recent story you’ve read about Miami that you wish more people cared about? I was happy to be able to attend the New Tropic event about how to raise awareness around LGBTQ pride all year round. Learned so much that night, and love that The New Tropic is using this platform to create awareness.

What are you celebrating in your life right now? Celebrating being home for the summer! I travel a lot for work and it’s great to be here in Miami for a while (even though it’s hot!).

Supporting members like Amanda make our work possible — and they get special perks like event discounts, ticket giveaways, and bonus content in the newsletter. Become a New Tropic member today to join the crew.
