Meet our member: Yuliya Strokova

Today we’re continuing our series on the people who make what we do possible — our supporting members. ❤️ Today we’re featuring downtown Miami’s Yuliya Strokova.

Where in town might people run into you? Thursday Gathering at the Venture Café Miami or evening jogging at Maurice Ferré Park.

What local business do you think deserves a shoutout (and why)? Ying Yang Academy, a child care center, for their big hearts. The kids are truly in great hands. The Center supports underserved at-risk youth to get scholarships to schools.

What’s a local event you went to recently that you loved? Volunteering at the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education.

What made you decide to become a member of The New Tropic? You are a true gem in Miami’s news landscape. I appreciate your great efforts to keep local community highly-engaged, highly-informed and highly-impactful.

What’s something you’re working on — in big ways or small — that you could use help with? I’ve recently launched Impact.Edition, a digital magazine about organizations and individuals who make a difference and positively impact communities around them. In addition, Impact.Edition is a marketing and communications platform, where we help startups, non-profit organizations and sustainable finance firms to drive positive change through meaningful engaging content, well-designed digital channels.

If you only have one meal left in Miami, where are you going (and why)? I live for the Claudio pizza with fresh burrata stracciatella cheese, and white truffle oil at Mister O1.

What’s a recent story you’ve read about Miami that you wish more people cared about? I recently read in FIU’s Panther Now newspaper about the impact of climate change on Miami’s water supply and how the academic community can influence the government for immediate actions.

What’s your perfect day in our city? Enjoying a Michael Tilson Thomas performance at the New World Symphony or Miami City Ballet performance at the Adrienne Arsht Center.

What does it mean to you to live like you live here? Drink morning cortadito with a pan de bono. Visiting Venture Café Miami on Thursdays. Visiting Miami Symphonic Orchestra in the Miami Design District on Fridays; volunteering to clean up the beach at Virginia Key on Saturdays. And visiting the Bass Museum on Family Sundays 😉

What are you celebrating in your life right now? I am celebrating the recent launch of Impact.Edition, a digital magazine about organizations and individuals who make a difference and positively impact communities around them.
