Where 10 transit stops got their names

Do you ever ride the Metrorail or Metromover and wonder why it has the name it has? Who was was Wilkie D. Ferguson? Where is Santa Clara? What is a Culmer?

We checked in with Miami historian Dr. Paul George to learn more about these transit stops, and uncovered some pretty fascinating histories. Explore it yourself!

Cool engaging contextual article. It’s interesting, and very rarely compared and contrasted, how the Miami River divides this city among ethnic lines, with North Miami (for the most part) housing our African-American and Caribbean communities and South Miami our Latino communities. Two things unite this city though: income inequality, and, apparently, transit!! 🙂
