It’s hot outside and the days are getting even warmer thanks to climate change, so how can you stay cool while not staying cooped up in your house? We decided to round up a few spots that are serving up cool treats all around town.
Ice cream dream
We’ve told you about some great places to grab ice cream around town in the past, and you can find those lists here and here. But there’s been plenty of newcomers to the scene since then. The sweet and tasty cones at Taiyaki NYC’s Miami outpost in Wynwood are a great way to beat the heat. And if you still need more while you’re wandering around that neighborhood, there’s also the vegan-friendly Nabati, and Dasher and Crank has millennial decor with some great flavors.
If you find yourself around Tropical Park then stop by Mojo Donuts and make a beeline for the freezer, which holds delicious flavors from Sweet Melody ice cream with names like “Strawberry Fields Whenever” and “Build Me Up, Peanut Buttercup.”
And if you’ve got some spare napkins on deck, then you can go with one of the “freakshake” creations from Vicky’s House, grab some ice cream rolls from DIY Ice Cream Roll and Poke Bowl, or some scoops from Cream Parlor.
Bubble tea, baby
If you want to keep cool with a little taro or some tapioca, there’s also some great spots around town serving up bubble tea.
Miu’s Teas has locations in South Beach and South Miami, and there’s also Cool Monkey Bubble Tea in North Beach (they also serve up some tasty gelato there). And if you stop by Yip in the 1-800-Lucky food hall in Wynwood, you’ll also be able to grab some cool, sweet tea.
Some old favorites
Don’t worry though, folks. We’re still big fans of some OG spots like The Frieze on Lincoln Road — which also has a bunch of vegan-friendly options — and La Michoacana in Homestead and Little Havana if you’re looking for authentic Mexican ice cream.
