But will things actually change? It’s hard to say right now. Politicians say that previous non-starters are now on the table.  Journalists who have covered other school shootings say that something really does feel different this time. (POLITICO)

It’s a lot to stay on top of, and we want to help. Starting Monday, we’ll be providing a daily update on what, if anything, has changed about our gun laws in the last 24 hours. We’ll do that every day until the legislative session ends on March 9.

We think there’s something else important to stay on top of too: Student voices. It’s been inspiring to see these students grab seats at the table and make all of us listen up. We want to amplify their voices even more.

Do you know a local student we should be hearing from? Let us know by hitting reply to this newsletter. And if there are any questions we can answer for you or anything more we can do to help you understand this moment, let us know about that too.

Would you like a walk with that Uber? A cheaper version of Uber POOL is launching today that will be about half the price of regular pool. What’s the difference? Rather than getting picked up and dropped off at your exact location and destination, the Uber app will choose a mutually convenient spot for both you and the driver. Tl;dr some walking will be involved. (Miami Herald)

No words. Yesterday a bill to declare porn a public health crisis easily passed the Florida House – the same day the chamber declined to even talk about banning assault rifles. We’ll just leave that there. (Miami New Times)

You CAN take command. Buzzfeed takes us inside the unofficial headquarters of the “Never Again” movement in one of the students’ living rooms. This story is an insightful look at how a group of teenagers took steps to become a powerful political bloc, basically overnight.

Beast mode. Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens was just named one of the top historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the U.S., coming in at No. 23. Three other Florida schools made the top 50 list as well. (Miami Herald)

Easy money. Miami-Dade Transit is facing a cash crisis, and it’s partially caused by declining ticket revenue. Unfortunately, it’s losing a chunk of cash every day from roughly 25 percent of bus routes where riders ride free because the fare boxes are broken, the transportation workers union says. Might want to get on that… (Miami Today)

Shadiness in the Sunshine State. Russians may have messed with the 2016 election across the U.S., but according to the documents released this week, Florida was on a whole other level. Russian agents tricked Trump campaign volunteers in the state, plus local organizations, into hosting pro-Trump rallies that Russians paid for with foreign money. Here’s a glimpse at one of those Russian-funded pro-Trump rallies. (POLITICO, Miami New Times)
