🤝How to do business responsibly

That’s why some of them have entire departments that focus on “corporate social responsibility.” And in Miami, there’s an entire community of people– known as Corporate Responsibility Miami– who work to bring together the corporate impact community locally as well as  do cool stuff on topics such as financial inclusion, women’s empowerment, teacher education, minority inclusion.

Corporate Responsibility Miami was created in 2017 by CIC MIAMI, RADICAL PARTNERS and Santiago Bunce out of a desire to better understand the local CR ecosystem and create opportunities for increased impact through support and collaboration. There are so many large corporations with an impact footprint in South Florida, but they were not coming together to discuss shared best practices, metrics, or areas of focus. This seemed like a missed opportunity for communication and collaboration – thus, CR Miami was born. The goal is to create a virtual and physical space for CR leaders to meet, share, and learn in support of the sustainable impact they seek to have in Miami and beyond. As an example in the last year, they’ve hosted nine expert roundtables with the goal of sharing best practices and are now looking to meet the community at large.

Are you interested in brainstorming with these folks on stuff like encouraging ethical practices, ensuring accountability and doing more social good in Miami? Are you a nonprofit looking to scale? Are you a local CSR leader looking to connect with your peers?

Come to CIC’s second year anniversary party on November 28 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. when you can “speed date” with CSR leaders in Miami around impact, metrics, and funding opportunities. Sign up now for your time slot!

‘Tis the season. Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, we think it’s safe to shout out this Christmas-themed bar that’s popping up in Wynwood. “Miracle in Miami” is setting up shop in Shirley’s, in the back room of Gramps. There will be plenty of holiday decorations and bartenders serving up drinks like the Christmas Carol Barrel and pouring a holiday-themed beer from J. Wakefield Brewing called the Wicked Winter Brew. The pop up runs through December 23. (Miami.com)

Some local powerhouses. The folks over at Miami New Times have released their list of the 15 most fascinating folks here in the 305 and it includes a diverse list of artists and performers like Octavia Yearwood and mermaid MeduSirena, activists like Valencia Gunder (founder of the Make the Homeless Smile program) and even Miami Marlins outfielder Lewis Brinson.
