💧What Miami is talking about

As always, we’ve pulled out some of the more positive stories for Feel Good Friday.

Remember it’s okay to turn off the [bad] news every now and again.

This Hialeah High rising senior thought he’d never play football again. He was diagnosed with Chron’s in 2018 and the pandemic put a damper on a crucial season, but he’s not letting it stop him. Clear eyes, full heart, can’t lose, as they say. (Local 10)

Thirty college acceptances, a million in scholarships–but she’s staying right here to be a Golden Panther. We feel super blessed that of all the places this high school senior could have gone, she chose to continue gracing Miami with her presence. (Fox 6)

You can order your Abuelita’s weird canned foods at Sedano’s via Shipt. Sedano’s has really come out as our hometown grocery hero these days. Raise your hand if you cry at the commercial. 🙋‍♀️ (Miami New Times)

Drive-through Botox is now a thing. Because ya know, those pandemic stress-induced wrinkles aren’t going to fix themselves. (Miami New Times)

Spot one of these yellow cuties around Miami’s urban center. They’re cargo bikes. A silver lining of this time sheltering in place really has been seeing how we’d operate with fewer cars on the road. (Miami Today)

Here’s a new song dedicated to healthcare workers from Emilio Estefan and The Wailers (as in, “Bob Marley and”) to take you into the long weekend.

🎉 We have a winner!

Congrats to Lien T. for winning a $100 gift card from local craft bar, BXLDR. Didn’t win? Take advantage of their slick online shopping site to pick up some brews for the weekend from their Wynwood storefront.

We’d also like to give a warm welcome all of you who joined as members this week. And if you haven’t yet, what are you waiting for?! Sign up here.

Senior Send-Offs: David, Darelle and Gabriela reflect

Every Friday through graduation weekend, we’ll share the wisdom of Miami-Dade County’s high school seniors. Know someone who wants to share? Email us at [email protected]. We’ll do our best to feature as many as we can!

“Entering a world of uncertainty, our passion and resilience will prove two of the few things certain. That’s what will move us forward.” – David Brothers, Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High

“We are the light that we need! By brightening up someone else’s day, we brighten our own day.” – Darrelle Young, Miami Norland Senior High

“We may not get to walk on stage  but we will be able to walk through whatever life throws at us with a resilience that defies our years.” – Gabriela Beltran, Immaculate La Salle

Breakfast for Saturday. Lunch for Sunday. Dinner for Monday.
