The Miami-based creatives behind the new comic book MYRISTICA are celebrating its release with a slew of programming this week.

💧What Miami is talking about

Lose yourself in MYRISTICA, the new comic book from Miami artists Terrell Villers, Akia Dorsainvill, and Catherine Villalonga. The book — a collaboration between the aforementioned trio, musician Kelsey Lu, Kaleisdescope Magazine, and Gucci — can be purchased with the newest issue of Kaleidescope and is being celebrated in a number of ways this week. If you miss this afternoon’s chat at 3 p.m., make sure to check out Thursday’s talk hosted by local Black queer collective Masisi.

What’s the future of fitness in Miami? Find out with the premiere of Miami Voices, the new web series hosted by The Underline. Tomorrow’s inaugural edition will be discussing the delicate balance between public health concerns surrounding COVID-19 and the pursuit of wellness within our communities.

Get ready to cut a rug with The Love Below tonight. Starting at 8 p.m., would-be clubbers can tune in to the long-running local party’s Twitch page for a three-hour stream featuring residents Manuvers, Pazmal, and others.

If you prefer your craft beer to taste like civic pride and charitable contributions, the Miami Marlins have the drink for you. The baseball team and Biscayne Bay Brewing are rolling out the release of their new collaboration, the appropriately named Marlins Lager. Besides warming our bellies, the new beverage also promises to warm our hearts: Each sale of the traditional German-style lager provides a donation to the Miami Marlins Foundation’s Home Plate Meals Program.

📣 A reco from our squad

Awash Ethiopian restaurant is such a hidden gem in Miami Gardens. The food is so rich with flavor and there’s something so primal about eating with your (fully sanitized) hands!” -Cristina Garcia, Engagement Producer for The New Tropic.
