Try this: Partner workout ideas

It’s harder to hit snooze when you’ve got a workout buddy counting on you to show up at the gym at 7 a.m.

So on International Friendship Day – Tuesday, July 30 – try sweating together with a friend. Here are a few ideas for you to try:

Combat sports training

Nothing says “Happy International Friendship Day” better than taking your friend to Black House Miami Beach for class that features rear naked choke holds. The gym offers combat sports training programs like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, boxing and MMA.

How to participate: Along with a monthly membership, The Miami Beach-based gym offers a free class to try it out and if you love it, you may want to consider a five or 10-day pass.

Acroyoga

Take your yoga to the next level with this partner-required setup. In this acrobatics-meets-yoga-meets-Thai-massage workout, partners support one another in elevated poses. “It’s a good way to connect, to develop that trust in yourself and others,” Anny Noratto, co-owner of AN Yoga Movement recently told us.

How to participate: Anny and her husband Nestor Sandoval co-own AN Yoga Movement. The duo has multiple options for classes, workshops, and even international retreats.

Run with Raven

In 1974, Raven made a New Year’s resolution to run eight miles a day for one year. He started January 1, 1975 and hasn’t missed a day since. If you need a running buddy, he’s your guy.

How to participate: Join Raven today, tomorrow, the next day, or any day for an eight mile run – he’ll be there. All routes begin and end at the 5th Street Lifeguard Station at 5:30 p.m. Check out the upcoming schedule and route for the day. Or if running isn’t your thing, after the run, there’s also a group of people that swim a third of a mile. They meet at the lifeguard station too.

Not sure where to even begin your fitness routine?

Baptist put together a list of four tips to help you find the ideal fitness program. Once you’ve that figured out, maybe you can join a friend and mix a couple of these partner exercises into your next gym session.
