Yet another beautiful, beloved weekend you’ve worked so hard for has arrived. We’re here to help you relish every single delicious moment of it. Here’s what’s on the menu.
Friday, July 29th
The Langford Presents: Disrupt Miami: Start your weekend off by being a total boss at the super sexy Langford Hotel. This breakfast of champions is a series of conversations that connect with you with the dopest people in the local startup and tech scene.
Future Old School: The best hip-hop party in Brooklyn is hitting Miami and bringing the legendary DJ and producer Just Blaze to Bardot. This is probably where your girl will be when she’s not answering her phone.
Speakfridays: The Open Mic Revolution: One of the dopest open mic/poetry nights in South Florida is now at the Miami Light Box. These poets consistently spit hot fire on the mic and will leave your soul feeling some type of way. If you have an appreciation for spoken word, this is the place to be.
3:05 Cafecito + Hatuey “Taste the Legacy” Happy Hour: In Cuba it’s all about the Hatuey malta. Now we’ve got Hatuey beer. Here’s your chance to try this legendary Cuban-style beer for free at Havana 1957 in Brickell.
Saturday, July 30th
Perspectiv Miami Art Show: This art show is pretty much everything you need under one roof. Bomb ass live music? Check! Spoken word? Check! Dope DJs? Check! Amazing local artists? Check! You’ll get to see some of the best up and coming artists in Miami in one place. Can’t beat that!
Harry Potter 8 Midnight Release Party: Accio! That’s us summoning all you Harry Potter fans to the midnight release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child book release party at the main Miami-Dade Public Library. We’ll be there, in character, doing a raffle to win the new book at midnight. Yes, we are nerds. No, we’re not sorry.
Pop-Up Poke Tour w/ History Miami Museum: This Pokemon craze doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. We say if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. This is your chance to get an actual Poke guide, hang with other trainers, and take a tour of Miami while playing everyone’s favorite new distraction.
#BankBlackMIAMI: This event encourages the community to come out and support the #BlackMoneyMatters movement by opening a bank account with OneUnited Bank and meet the owner Teri Williams.
Sunday, July 31st
Miami is an Island: You probably noticed that this event always makes the list. And for good reason. They have the DOPEST DJs in Miami spinning in one place. It’s back at one of our favorite new bars, The Anderson, and there is no question about where you need to be this Sunday. This is it and it’s lit.
Moon Over Miami Boat Tour with Dr. George: If you don’t know by now, Dr. George is a rockstar. Like seriously Beatles-level rockstar in Miami. This guy knows everything there is to know about Miami and its history and we could listen to him talk all day. He’ll keep you immersed in his stories for hours. It’s a real talent. Obviously going on a boat tour with him would be EPIC.
Havana Nights Film Series: Before Night Falls: Some of us have to work on Monday, so partying on a Sunday night is out of the question. But that doesn’t mean you have to stay inside. Check out this iconic film and even get an optional guide of the newest exhibit at the Wolfsonian. We’ve seen it and trust us, you don’t want to miss it.
CAS Miami Presents Massive Attack’s “Mezzanine”: Classic Album Sundays at Sweat Records are becoming one of our new favorite things. What can we say, we’re a sucker for a throwback. This time around the listening party will feature Massive Attack’s epic album Mezzanine. Meet up with other audiophiles and music lovers and enjoy free beer and pizza at your favorite local record store.
Miami, we love you. Have an amazing weekend and be sure to tag us in your photos so we can be included in the shenanigans.
