Little Haiti and Little River Guide

In our guide to Little Haiti and Little River, we’re exploring the area from NW 54th Street to a bit north of NW 79th Street, celebrating the patchwork of people and places that make up these vibrant neighborhoods.

As you walk through the neighborhood, you might encounter signs that read, “Welcome to Lemon City,” a name with a history older than the City of Miami itself. Throughout the 1980s, many Haitian immigrants made Lemon City their new home, transforming the area into a cultural mecca for the diaspora.

Just to the north, Little River has been around since the 1800s, though the two neighborhoods share much of the same history, population, and energy.  That’s why we’re exploring both in this guide. Come along with us.
