THE PLACE: Tea ‘n Sanity is the last used book store in Miami-Dade County. Eunice Rodriguez takes in more than 2,000 books every week, but at this shop, you’ll find much more than books. It’s a combination book exchange ‘n medicinal herb shop.
Rodriguez is a self-taught herbalist and will custom-blend herbs and essential oils for you based on your ailment. She also makes 100% organic soaps, shampoos, toothpaste, deodorant and insect repellant. She also sells farm-fresh eggs and other dairy products from her farm.
Who knew you could find thousands of books, hundreds of herbs, unpasteurized dairy products (and kombucha) in one shop?
FUN FACT: Her husband Manny’s homemade kombucha is their best seller.
QUOTABLE: “If you come in here and you need something that I know will work for you, and you don’t have the money for it, you don’t leave without it,” says Rodriguez. “That’s the way it works here.”
